Out with the Old, In with the Green: A Home Renovation Story

I recently had the opportunity to collaborate on a home project with a remarkable realtor, Stephanie Weitzner known for her meticulous attention to detail and dedication to exceeding her clients’ expectations. Tasked with refreshing and updating the property for selling purposes I was brought in to consult with the homeowners.

Upon assessing the home, I made a deliberate choice to avoid the typical, almost expected white kitchen aesthetic, opting instead for a soothing green. The aim was to create a memorable ambiance that would set the property apart from its competition. Drawing from my involvement in color trends, as well as color psychology, I recognized the evolving preferences of homeowners beyond the longstanding trend of white kitchens.

One of the challenges we encountered was the awkward placement of the fireplace. I suggested that it should be removed completely.

Bold move, I know!  However, you will notice that we had a more modern-looking one installed in the TV room upstairs for better functionality.

While the curtains were not part of the initial updating an staging process, the homeowners had them reinstalled after the painting was done, as they were custom-made, expensive and conveyed with the house. I was pleased to witness the overall transformation from a lackluster and uninspiring space to one that exuded freshness, brightness, and cleanliness. This remarkable change was achieved through a combination of replacing the countertops, and backsplash, strategic lighting bulb choices, updated fixtures, a lighter paint palette, and the introduction of lightweight furniture.

Our goal was to leverage existing elements of the home wherever possible, there were instances where a more substantial transformation was necessary to enhance its appeal.

Needless to say, I am more than pleased with how the project turned out, and working with clients who trust me completely, was an absolute pleasure!

Credit is also due to Hevenle Staging for their exceptional work in staging the home, which undoubtedly contributed to its newfound charm and allure.
