5 Taupe Paint Colors Compared

Taupe is often described as a mixture of beige and gray, but that definition does not tell the whole story.

Some taupes are light and softly muted. Others have more brown, gray or earthy depth. Their appearance can shift considerably depending on the flooring, fixed materials and lighting around them.

Here are five Sherwin-Williams taupe paint colors compared from lightest to darkest.

For a light, quiet neutral, begin with Accolade.

For a flexible light taupe that can shift between beige and gray, compare Accessible Beige.

For more warmth and grounded depth, test Shiitake.

For a taupe with a subtle rosy or red-brown quality, consider Diverse Beige.

For the deepest and most substantial result, look at Tony Taupe.

Accolade is pale and restrained. Accessible Beige is flexible and muted. Shiitake is warmer and more grounded. Diverse Beige has a subtle red-brown quality, while Tony Taupe is the deepest and earthiest of the group.
